Persuant to § 28 sec. 6 and sec. 7 of the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 26 February 2021 and amending regulations (of March 10, 2021 and March 11, 2021), new restrictions, orders and prohibitions were introduced due to the state of epidemic and the Learning Zone remains closed for users!

Books are borrowed by means of self-service lockers

  • Books from the store room are ordered, just like before the pandemic, via the online catalogue.
  • Books from the Reading Room are borrowed on the basis of an email sent from the domain@gumed.edu.pl directed to the address of the Lending Unit: biblwyp@gumed.edu.pl. It should include: title, author, call number of the ordered book as well as your name, surname and album number.
  • In the vestibule to the main entrance to the Library there are lockers from which the ordered items are collected. When the books are prepared, you will receive an e-mail in  @gumed.edu.pl domain with the number of the locker in which the ordered books will be located, the code needed to open the locker, and the designated collection date.

ATTENTION! Due to the limited number of lockers and a lot of orders at the beginning of the academic year, books cannot wait longer than the day indicated in the e-mail. Uncollected orders will be canceled.

The order processing period has been significantly extended (even to several working days). Therefore, an e-mail with information
about the books collection date may come even a few days after order and placing the books on the reader's account!

  • The lockers are accessible on Mondays from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm and from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • University employees can receive the ordered items by means of internal mail to the indicated address of the Department/University.

Returns of books

  • This can be done by means of the book drops available in the vestibule of the main entrance to the Library building within the LIbrary opening hours or sent to the address:

    Biblioteka Główna Gdańskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego
    Wypożyczalnia
    ul. Dębinki 1
    80-211 Gdańsk

  • You are asked to protect books against damage.
  • Books are taken off the readers’ accounts after quarantine.

Settlement of fees

  • Persons who have an unpaid fee for a late return (the amount to be paid is shown in the Virtua reader's account, in the account tab) are asked to pay by card on site at the Circulation Desk or by bank transfer and send a transfer confirmation to: biblwyp@gumed.edu.pl.

3. SAGE Research Methods Cases: Medicine & Health are stories of how real research projects were conducted. The collection provides more than 500 case studies, showing the challenges and successes of doing research, written by the researchers themselves. They explain why the researchers chose the methods they did, how they overcame problems in their research and what they might have done differently with hindsight: the realities of research that are missing from journal articles and textbooks. Cases are peer-reviewed and come with pedagogical tools including learning objectives and discussions questions. They can be used as a teaching tool to demonstrate a particular method and how it is applied in real research, or as inspiration to students who are preparing for their own research project.
