Embase – an alternative to PubMed
|
Due to emerging reports about possible issues with content updates and control in the PubMed database (http://han.gumed.edu.pl/han/journals-bmj-com/www.bmj.com/content/391/bmj.r2158), we would like to remind you that the MUG Main Library provides MUG users with access to an alternative, reputable database for searching and reviewing medical literature – Embase, published by Elsevier. |

Embase is the largest bibliographic database in the field of biomedicine. It indexes over 8,100 peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the entire Medline index (the main component of PubMed) as well as an additional 2,900 titles. Compared to PubMed, it offers broader coverage of literature in the area of pharmacy. The database uses its own subject heading thesaurus, Emtree, which includes over 80,000 terms. Embase is particularly valued in the preparation of systematic reviews, thanks in part to the ability to apply the PICO protocol when developing search strategies. |
